Welcome to this multiblog about one adventure that is planned for next summer. The idea is to go for around 3-week trip to the brotherly neighboring republics, in particular two - Russia and Kazakhstan. Event cleverly disguises behind the name “Total Solar eclipse observation in Novosibirsk”, but it completely unintentionally includes some sightseeing in the Aral Sea, the Kazakh steppes and civilization sites and similar activities on Russian territory. Also it looks like watermelon season may already be underway.

Today there were people gathered together who are quite interested on the event, and apart from all kinds of silly talks held that:

  • It will be costly
  • It will be harsh
  • There will be a great troble
  • These words sound as music

The next plan of action till the spring is to deal mainly with the thinking deep thoughts and industrial intelligence. In the spring there would be procurement work carried out. But the bread can be started to dry now. Around 20+ people seem interested in the activities. Such number could be optimum. There is information that some other Latvian expedition could be in Novosibirsk.

This blog-notes will be written also by other people. It is very possible that you can see the list of them on the left side [not anymore - see section About us instead]. I was offered the opinion to write this all here in English. On the one hand, it would have no guilt - we even could insert Google Adsense ads and the expedition would earn a couple of watermelons and fermented milk of a camel. However I think it should be written in Latvian. And also some entries could be inserted during the expedition - there should be the Internet connection somewhere. From reliable sources it is known to be found in a couple of smaller towns of Kazakhstan.

By the way, does anyone know whether it is possible to accredit as a blogger in Baikonur?
